37401 Mary Queen of Scots

37401 “Mary Queen of Scots” was built by Vulcan Foundry in February 1965 and was first allocated to Darnall. In February 1974 she was renumbered to 37268.  37268 continued to traverse the network and travelled from Scotland, to Wales and most of England too, then on 28th June 1985 emerged as 37401.  Then spent most of her time on the Highland line, although a few visits further south were recorded.  August 1988 saw the application of the Mainline Intercity livery as seen above. To this day, it has meandered around the network, being stored a few times along the way, but is still in service now, although its owners Direct Rail Services have recently been offered it up for sale along with 11 other Class 37’s.
